ABOUT US
Citrus is a symbol of luxury and hospitality in southern Italy, particularly in Sicily from where the Cicala family emigrated. It is also a dedication to Joe Cicala’s great-grandmother, Clementina. The snake represents Angizia, the pagan snake goddess of the Marsi tribe who inhabited Angela Cicala’s familiar region of Abruzzo.
We are proud to serve authentic family recipes, rooted in the folklore and traditions of Italy’s southern regions.
Benvenuti e buon appettio!
We are a southern Italian restaurant located inside the historic Divine Lorraine Hotel on North Broad Street, in Philadelphia, where husband and wife chefs Joe and Angela Cicala, bring you the region’s most authentic Italian dining experience which focuses on seasonality, sustainability, and most importantly, simplicity.

DINNER WITH The Cicalas

Whether you’ve been searching for a nostalgic experience of your Italian or Italian-American childhood or have been waiting to be adopted by an Italian family for the food alone, the Cicalas invite you to their table to eat, drink, laugh, and eat some more.
Dinner with The Cicalas brings guests together over a shared, family-style meal featuring Joe’s and Angela’s favorites from their very own Sunday Dinners. Celebrate their foods and traditions, all while the classics play from Dean Martin, Louis Prima, and Frank Sinatra.

Our Story:
While Cicala Restaurant was under construction in 2018 and 2019, Joe and Angela
started to offer “Sunday Gravy” dinner experiences in their South Philadelphia rowhome to
help fund the restaurant. Guests came from all over to learn how to make a traditional, Italian
Sunday dinner, cooking together then sitting down to enjoy the meal together afterwards. “We
welcomed everyone into our home like family. To see an entire group of strangers coming together for just a few hours to create and share a meal together, and then leave as friends, was one of the most rewarding experiences we’ve ever had in our culinary careers. While we will be doing all the cooking at ‘Dinner with The Cicalas’ at our restaurant, we can’t wait to sit down once again with our guests and share in the meal. Come over for dinner!”
